Earn TWO HSW | LU’s after attending this ZOOM Meeting in which Design & Construction Lawyers will break down the most critical liability issues facing architects, engineers, and design professionals today. Giving the attendee an understanding of the most crucial liability issues.

This session will focus on where claims most often arise—defective plans and specifications, coordination failures, building code violations, and construction administration decisions—and how Florida law assigns responsibility when things go wrong. The attendee will leave with a greater understanding of the areas of risk and what to do about those risks, to better their architectural practices.

Attendees will gain clear, real-world insight into key legal doctrines that directly impact liability, including the Spearin Doctrine, supervisory control liability to contractors, and the Slavin Doctrine, which can limit exposure after project acceptance.

The program will also cover Florida’s strict statutes of limitations and repose, potential protections under §558.0035, Florida Statutes, and important damage defenses such as betterment and first-cost principles. Attendees will leave the session with a greater understanding of how these statutes relate to their practices.
