2007 Design Awards Reception
June 16th at university of tampa

The 2007 Design Award Reception will be held on the 9th floor of the Vaughn Center at the University of Tampa on Saturday, June 16th at 6:30 p.m. The event is a cocktail reception with heavy hors d’ oeuvres where attendees move about to mingle, look at the design award entry boards and visit with sponsors. The evening ends with a formal presentation of awards to the design award winners.

Tickets are on sale online or by calling 813-229-3411. Members may purchase tickets for themselves and one guest for $20 per-person. Non-member tickets are $30 and Students are $10 per-person.

This Thursday, May 24th, AIA Associates and interns will be reviewing Pre Design at the Chapter Office from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The cost is $5 members/ $10 non-members (includes study materials, snacks & soft drinks). This June, the AIA TB Associates Committee presents the David Thaddeus Structures Seminar. This weekend workshop will cover the two structural divisions of the ARE - General Structures and Lateral Forces.

Professor Thaddeus has taught structural divisions since 1989 and is currently Associate Professor of Structures and Architectural Designat the College of Architecture, University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Projects from usf SACD
Join us for the next Gallery AIA opening and see what the USF SACD students have been up to this year. The Gallery AIA exhibition will feature recent work by USF SACD students from the 2007 school year.

All members, family and friends are invited. This is also a great opportunity for mentors and mentees to get together. Join us, Friday, June 1st at AIA Chapter Headquarters from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. We will be serving light appetizers, beer, wine and soft drinks. No RSVP required.

Conceptual Kiley
Help kiley gardens & the public realm

In an effort to raise awareness of Kiley Gardens and Public realm, The Urban Charrette hosted –Conceptual Kiley- where local artist, architects, designers, and organizations, designed and built, “Conceptual, Artistic Trees” and “planted” them in Kiley Gardens.

On Thursday, May 24th the trees will be auctioned off at 5:00 p.m. in the Courtyard at the Tampa Museum of Art. All the proceeds from the auction will benefit Friends of Kiley Gardens.

Downtown Partnership Annual Meeting
Keynote speaker, stanley saitowitz
The Partnership’s 21st Annual Meeting and Luncheon will be held on June 12th. The event will take place at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina starting at 11:30 a.m. The keynote address will be delivered by Mr. Stanley Saitowitz, the architect for the new Tampa Museum of Art. Mr. Saitowitz will share his vision for the new museum as well as his impressions about downtown Tampa. Reservations can be made by clicking here.

Tampa Theatre DIY Network
Episode airs tonight
Last night, the Tampa Theatre Green Room Renovation episode aired on the DIY Network's DIY to the Rescue at 8:30 p.m. If you missed it, don't worry - the Tampa Theatre will be replaying the episode on the big screen on June 4th. The Theatre will be honoring and thanking all the subcontractors involved, the Beck Group and Urban Studio Architects for their contribution and labor contributed to the renovation.
