May Designer's Luncheon

AIA Tampa Bay is proud to present Stanley Russell, professor of design and Japanese architecture at the University of South Florida School of Architecture and Community Design, as the guest speaker for the May Designer’s Luncheon.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, Russell apprenticed with a Japanese master carpenter and started a design/build company in Japan where he designed and built several projects. He has worked in the offices of Balkrishna Doshi in Ahmedabad, India, and Team Zoo in Kobe, Japan. At Team Zoo Stanley designed a variety of projects including the ARCASIA Gold Medal award winning Izushi Elementary School. Stanley is a registered Architect in the state of Ohio.

AIA Lunch N' Learn

Join us at the Chapter Office for a free lunch and receive 1 Continuing Education hour at the AIA Tampa Bay monthly CE Lunch N' Learns.
This May, AIA Tampa Bay will offer "Moisture Intrusion Testing Specifications for New Construction Projects" hosted by Joe Sorrentino of PSI. This class will explain how sub contractor verification of the building envelope components can help to ensure optimum Indoor Air Quality. It will also teach ways for the design team to avoid litigation by due diligence at the time of construction.
Free for Members, $10 for non-members. Includes lunch generously provided by PSI.

Noche De Gala

Help cast a positive light on our community and your business by supporting Noche De Gala, a uniquely charitable art auction to benefit the Ybor Endowment for the Arts.
Architectural Designs, Inc. invites firms to join forces with Ybor business owners in hosting this fundraiser that will create art scholarships for each of the three local colleges and University. Planning is underway for the next Noche De Gala on May 24th and 25th.

Don't forget the deadline for the 2007 Design Award Program entry boards has been extended to Friday, May 18th at 5:00 p.m. at the Chapter Office. Please also include your entry number, signed project information form and project image CD with each entry.

The 2007 Design Award program will be at the Vaughn Center at the University of Tampa on Saturday, June 16th at 6:30 p.m. The event is a cocktail reception with heavy hors d’ oeuvres where attendees move about to mingle, look at the design award entry boards and visit with sponsors. The evening ends with a formal presentation of awards to the design award winners.
Tickets are on sale online or by calling 813-229-3411. Members may purchase tickets for themselves and one guest for $20 per-person. Non-member tickets are $30 and Students are $10 per-person.
A Design-Build Dialogue
Redefining the business of fine craft
Presented by Grady Pridgen, Inc. and Florida Craftsmen, Inc, A Design-Build Dialogue is a unique opportunity for artists, architects, realtors, developers, designers, collectors and others in the art, craft and lifestyle industry that want to broaden their business partnerships.
The panel of guest speakers includes Wendy Rosen, Publisher of American Style Magazine and Robert Bischoof, Chair of Master Craftsman Program at FSU.
