March Designer's Luncheon

This month, the AIA Tampa Bay Designer's Luncheon will feature two of the projects honored at the 2006 AIA Tampa Bay Design Award Program. The two designers will give participants an inside look at the design, plans and construction of their award winning projects.

First, Grant Clifford, head of Aviation at Gresham, Smith Partners, will discuss the Institutional Category winner, Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport, Terminal 1 - Concourse A

Attention all Associates and Interns! Start preparing to pass your ARE exam with the 2007 AIA Tampa Bay ARE Program.

This month, we will be reviewing Construction Documents on Thursday, March 15th at the
AIA Tampa Bay Chapter Office at 6:00 p.m. The cost is $5 members/ $10 non-members(includes study materials, pizza & soft drinks). RSVP required here.

Indoor air pollution, 1 ceh
As part of a new series of Free CE Programs for AIA Tampa Bay Members, Indoor Environmental Consultants, LLC presents IEC 100 Indoor Air Pollution. Participants will gain an understanding of the history leading to the problem of Indoor Air Pollution and how it relates to identifying the causes, recognizing the effects and defining and applying active solutions.

The 1 CEH class is free for Members and $10 for

AIAS Beaux Arts Ball

The USF School of Architecture and Community Design invites the architectural community to the annual Beaux Arts Ball, "Hollywood." This standing tradition is an excuse to dress up, eat, drink and dance all in the honor of good design!

AIA Tampa Bay and AIAS-USF Chapter are seeking the support of local firms and architects to make the 20th Annual Beaux Arts Ball a success. Tax deductible sponsorship opportunities and event tickets are available here.

This year's event will be at the Lion's Eye Institute at 1410 N. 21st Street. Friday, March 23rd from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Tickets are $25 per-person. USF Students free. RSVP required to Brian Flemmings at 727-742-0434.

Planning Commission Awards
The Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission presents The 25th Annual Community Design Awards on April 5, 2007 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center in Downtown Tampa.

This well-respected program honors design excellence in planning, historic preservation, affordable housing, environmental sensitivity, public participation, and architectural quality in building and development projects within Hillsborough County. The Community Design Awards program submissions are from planners, architects, builders, developers, residents, community groups, design professionals, local governments and other interested parties that provide examples of sound planning and good design in Hillsborough County. Such recognition, it is hoped, will provide examples that will foster and encourage good development.
