Questions About Continuing Education Requirements
FL BOAID REQUIREMENTS - Prior to February 28th 2007 all Florida licensed architects who have been licensed for more than 12 months, are required to have earned 20 Continuing Education Units (16 of those HSW) since March 1, 2005 to meet Florida State Licensing requirements. 2 of those credits must be an Advance Course on the Florida Building Code, which you can purchase here. Newly licensed architects are required to complete a four-hour core curriculum relating to the Florida Building Code also available online here.
Architects are not required to report or record credits with the state, unless audited. AIA Members can rely on their CE Transcript maintained by AIA incase of audit. Non-members must maintain certificates of completion for continuing education courses incase of audit by the state.
Members Check your transcripts Online to make sure all of your credits have been recorded. Credits may not be recorded for up to 90 days after the course. Click here and use your AIA Member number to log in. (See the blue box on the right side of the page.) Email us if you have forgotten your number. AIA National will also mail 2006 transcripts to each member in March.
Non-Member Architect Information
There are no transcripts for state. It is the responsibility of the architect to keep proof of credit for three years after renewal. Click here for more information.
