THIS FRIDAY, JULY 27TH
The AIA TB Architectural Heritage Committee would like to invite all members, friends and family to a luncheon that will conclude the first SEAS (Summer Exploring Architecture Studio) program. Guests will have the opportunity to view a presentation of the activities which the students enjoyed during the exciting two week program. Your attendance will help inspire the architects of the future!

RFQ: Planning and Design of Arts Education Center
deadline - July 31, 2007
The City of Temple Terrace, Florida has released a Request For Qualifications (RFQ) for a Planning and Design consultant for a new Arts Education Center. The new center will be within the mixed use, pedestrian oriented New Urban downtown redevelopment, located within the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) area.

Please review the qualifications, requirements, and Scope of Work on the Request for Qualifications posted on the City of Temple Terrace web site. The RFQ can be downloaded here

Siesta Key, July 28th
Help the Sarasota Architectural Foundation (SAF) to raise money in order to receive a matching grant from the World Monuments Fund to hold an international design competition for the revitalization of Paul Rudolph's River view High School. The Sarasota Architectural Foundation is on their way toward raising the $20,000 needed by July 31st, but they need the support of the architectural community to make it happen!

Smith Architects of Sarasota invites all design professionals and friends to Siesta Key for margaritas this Saturday, July 28th at 6:00 p.m. View e-vie.

Florida Chapter 2007 Annual Conference
The DBIA (Design Build Institute of America) Florida Chapter 2007 Annual Conference is scheduled for September 20-21, at the Hilton St. Petersburg Bay front, St. Petersburg, Florida.

This years keynote speaker is Dr. Barbara Jackson, Director of the California Center for Construction Education Construction Management Department at California Polytechnic State University. Her teaching and research focus is integrated project delivery, design-build project management, residential construction and development, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Prior to teaching, Dr. Jackson spent 20 years in the construction industry, including 11 years as President and Owner of Design/Build Services Inc, in Virginia from 1984-1995.

This conference is open to Architects, Suppliers, Owners, Contractors, and Engineers. Additional information can be obtained at www.fldbia.org, or call 407-563-1410.

AIA TB Competitions
Object / Garcia award
Participate in AIA Tampa Bay Competitions! The Chapter has competition opportunities for both associates and registered architect members. Both Awards will be presented at the Annual Dinner Gala on Saturday, October 6th at Raymond James Stadium.

Registered architects 40 years of age or younger are encouraged to submit an entry package for the 2007 Garcia Award. This Award promotes design excellence through recognition of young architects with talent, passion, and dedication; qualities for which Eduardo Garcia was known. The deadline for the 2007 Garcia Award is September 21st, 2007. See full Call for Entries.

AIA Tampa Bay encourages all Associate Members to enter the 2007 Object Competition. The Competition is an opportunity for Associate Members in good standing with AIA Tampa Bay to design an Object, which will be used as the physical award for the 2007 Service Awards. The deadline to deliver submissions to the AIA office is 5:00 p.m. Monday, July 30th. Winners will receive two tickets to the 2007 Annual Dinner Gala.
