AIA Tampa Bay Napkin Sketch Winners
CONGRATULATIONS DEIGHTON BABIS, AIA
On Friday, December 7th at the AIA Tampa Bay Annual Holiday Open House, President Randy Stribling announced Deighton Babis, AIA as the winner of the second annual AIA Tampa Bay Napkin Sketch Juried Competition and Exhibition. Out of the 47 entries displayed in the exhibition, the jury unanimously chose Babis' napkin as the stand out sketch. Babis, Principal with Lyman Davidson Dooley, says the sketch, "represents an original idea for an 'Urban Teepee,' a 3,500 seat open-air amphitheater for downtown Denver."
The jury also recognized Chris Vela's entry depicting
cyborg looking diners on a Bern's Steakhouse napkin and Rachael Przyborski’s ink grid floor plan sketch with an Honorable Mention. (Chris Vela and his wife just opened a restaurant - and will no doubt sketch on his own napkins next year. See the Menu!)
Guests at the Annual Holiday Open house had the opportunity to cast votes for their favorite sketch of the evening which portrayed a variety of subjects. The jury presented Juliana Salamone with the People's Choice Award for her 3-D design of multiple stacked intersecting planes.
