Architects in Film
current film raises questions about depiction of architects
The AIA e-mail President's Discussion List, an online forum for state and local component presidents and presidents-elect, recently had a discussion about a film called The Architect. This film has yet to be released in the Tampa Bay area.
Some participants of the forum felt the film’s portrayal of architects was deceitful, spurring comments regarding how architects are depicted in society and use of the term "architect.” Some felt AIA should take a stand regarding the film, while others recognized Hollywood's depictions of other professions or groups are not always valid.
RK Stewart, AIA President for 2007 has read the posted comments and indicated the national leadership will "be looking at the best way to respond with our message about the good work our members do for their communities and clients."
Read about the film The Architect from IMBD and The Village Voice and form your own opinion on the depiction of architects in film.
