About AAH
This AIA Tampa Bay committee is led by Alan Prestigiacomo, AIA. The committee is a local chapter of an AIA national Knowledge Community and was launched in Tampa
Bay in 2009. The committee is comprised of architects, healthcare professionals and members of allied professions.   The steering commitee meets as needed and they hold a variety of events throughout the year including evening mixers/presentations and an annual half day program in conjunction with SMPS in the spring.

Participating in AAH programs is open to AIA members and non-members including industry representatives.

AAH Mission
“The AIA Academy of Architecture for Health (AAH) improves the quality of healthcare through design by developing, documenting, and disseminating knowledge; educating healthcare architects and other related constituencies; advancing the practice of healthcare architecture; improving the design of healthcare environments; affiliating and advocating with others that share our vision and promoting research”.

Upcoming events

Save the Date: 3rd Annual Healthcare in the Headlines, Thursday, May 10th in Tampa.

This half day program includes networking, lunch and a panel discussion of a timely healthcare facilities topic. Held in conjuncion with SMPS Tampa Bay, the program draws more than 100 attendees from healthcare design, construction and administration. Sponsorships will be available.

Dear AAH Members:
We have some exciting updates that we would like to report.

2012 is ramping up to be a great year for AIA Tampa Bay-AAH. However, first we want to thank you all of you founding members for your past support for getting this started and continued interest in this Committee with the goal of improving the quality of Healthcare through design.

In order to further broaden our inclusion of a multidisciplinary group of Healthcare experts we have added Architects as well as Allied Member Professionals to our Steering Committee:

As Past Chair, I will continue to assist and serve as the AAH Steering Committee Advisory and hope to see you at some future events.

Please help me in congratulating these individuals that have stepped forward to help lead our mission.

For those of you that may be new to the group below is a list of a few of our accomplishments over the past 2 + years since the AIA Tampa Bay-AAH was established.

1) We have had some exceptional educational speakers regarding the most relevant trends in recent Healthcare planning and design.

2) Created 14 Subcommittees outlines and goals to organize and promote various aspects of our mission for current and future programs.

3) Raised approximately $15,000 dollars to help support the AAH Committee and AIA.

4) Won a $15,000 Grant from the national AAH Foundation (plus $6500 matching funding from the Rothschild Foundation = total with contributions $58,000). The research findings are currently being prepared for publication.

5) Healthcare Behind Headlines jointly organized by AAH/SMPS has become an annual event in the community with participation from national, regional and local healthcare executives.
